Exciting to the end. Good presentation.
The story is gripping, Reacher is cool as always but even he is brought to his limits as the plot evolves.
A great thriller.

Absolut spitze!!
Von Anfang bis Ende spannend, fesselnd und mein Lieblings Buch bisher ! Super als Einstieg in die Reacher Reihe !

Spannend bis zum Schluss
Ein weiterer spannender und abwechslungsreicher Jack Reacher. atmosphärisch erzählt und gesprochen. für Fans der Reihe eine klare Empfehlung.

will it ever end?
I've read the forword of the first Reacher novel, and I agree, Lee Child is indeed a writer who knows to tell a gripping story. On the other hand I agree with one critic who compared the stories with the violent dreams of revenge of a teenager, as "this big Reacher dude" (TBRD) always starts piling up bodies of bad guys as soon as he arrives in town and gets a casus belli. And with it, TBRD gets annoyingly "top superhuman", a one man army, a juggernaut, while my willing suspension of disbelief fades. Usually TBRD arrives at a place by coincidence, but just in time. TBRD notices that something is fishy, that some really bad guys have undermined local authorities, and there's no one around apart from TBRD those in need: both the little people and the authorities. And with it TBRD becomes the "man taking names", as Jonny Cash sang, and in the end he disappears (TRBD is like "Keyser Söze"- with "shh" he is gone"), without anyone charging him for anything, while he should hum Bob Marley's "I shot the sheriff but I did not shoot the deputy (I strangled him) but I swear it was in self defense..." ;) TBRD suffocates and strangles , TBRD brakes necks and heads easily, TBRD shoots like a real marksman, TBRD is able to stare for hours when nothing is around that needs to be thought over, but thinks sharp and fast, once he needs to. Of course there are some enigmas to solve, some dots to connect- remember TBRD was military police, were you apparently don't only learn to investigate homicide, but foremost to commit them too ;) (or do you see an other reason why TBRD is so good in killing?). Of course there is some companions along the way, every Archilles needs his Patroklos and his Penthesilea after all, but only to give TRBD some chance to converse, interact and come to rescue!!!
Now, this particular novel stalls the inevitable End and drags the story along, only to give TBRD some extra time to kill some more extra bad guys.
Some paranoid Militia takes a high profile FBI agent hostage, and take the innocent bystander, TBRD, with them for no particular reason it seams, other than to let TBRD kill them one after the other. The outcome is certain: TBRD kills nearly all the bad guys on his own, he rescues the rescue team, he gets the woman and then he goes on the road again.

15 Stunden Nothingburger
Schwache Story, keine Spannung, zieht sich wie Kaugummi. Was früher cool lakonisch war, ist nur noch Masche. Schade.
