Sir Peter Ustinov's beautifully crafted autobiography is told with exquisite wit and insight. From his birth in April 1921, it spans his extraordinary career as actor, playwright, film star, and director, confirming his early belief that he is 'irrevocably betrothed to laughter'. Ustinov's renowned gift for mimicry is exploited to the full in Dear Me. Eccentric relatives, school masters, sergeant majors, and manic Hollywood moguls are all brought unforgettably to life.

Simply great

He was simply great, this man, a genius. His use of language is art, nothing more or less - his humor is - well - just pure intelligent humor. But - as he says himself, a kind of humor to be read and spoken of special people with special voices - him.I had heard a book written and read by him in German - it was just as lovely as his language and way of reading is in English. I love his way of immitating the people he is quoting - nevermind in Cockney, Schottish, American or with French or German accent or just the posh language of the posh people. This book was one of the real highlights in the liturature of my life - and it was better to have it read by him then just to read it.

Dear Me

beautifully read my the author himself! Delightful language. I found the first hour hilariously funny, but less interesting towards the end. Still highly recommendable!
