Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), credited as the inspiration for radio, robots, and even radar, has been called the patron saint of modern electricity. Based on original material and previously unavailable documents, this acclaimed book is the definitive biography of the man considered by many to be the founding father of modern electrical technology. Among Tesla's creations were the channeling of alternating current, fluorescent and neon lighting, wireless telegraphy, and the giant turbines that harnessed the power of Niagara Falls.

"Seifer's vivid, revelatory, exhaustively researched biography rescues pioneer inventor Nikola Tesla from cult status and restores him to his rightful place as a principal architect of the modern age." ( Publishers Weekly)

From excellence to mediocracy

I'm very interested in history and technical development. Thus I like to learn from the greatest minds and how they lived and what they did to reach out with there unbelievable ideas to improve the world. Although, Mr. Tesla is not a well known name today, he is one of the creators of our modern and convenient live (just imagine, no electricity for one day; the world would come to a stop, no internet, no computer, no lift would running). Inventors like Tesla and Edison and many more are the builders of our world and I believe, the stories of them can still teach us valuable lessons today.
Coming back to this particular book. I feel not satisfied with the content and the delivery. In my opinion it is a kind of boring collection of facts and I miss more technical details and explanations why Tesla was such a important inventor. I didn't get much out on this point and maybe it is also because the speaker is a kind of monotone and flat. It took me a lot of energy to continue to listen and I gave up before I reached the end. (It's the second time out of more then 120 audible books). I wish I can find a better biography of Mr. Tesla. As all this is my own opinion, please do not feel discouraged, find out for yourself if you like the subject and this particular book. Mr. Tesla itself definitely deserves our respect and admiration.
