It is a classic and I thought I have to read it.

Some of the classics are ageless and regardless how long ago, they were written, they still ring true and touch you deeply. 'The most dangerous game' is not really one of them.

In the story, Rainsford, an author of hunting books, falls of a yacht and saves his life by swimming to a mysterious island. He hopes to find help at the residence of General Zaroff, a rich Russian nobleman and passionate hunter. General Zaroff has hunted all over the world and all the game, you could think of. To make hunting a real thrill again, he transformed the island into a hunting ground for the most intelligent prey, human beings. Of course you can imagine, where this is going now.

Of course short stories leave little room for detailed descriptions and background information, but the way this story is told, leaves too many open questions and implausibilities. The story does not ring true and sounds too fabricated.

I can't help it, I expected more of such a famous piece of literature.
