Some Interesting Tips, Probably Better to Buy the Actual Book

This book offered a bit of interesting insight into diet and nutrition. It has a strong focus on health and losing weight, which is fine, but the scoring system is not ideal because foods are weighted based on calories and nutritional density, i.e. in order to score high, a food has to have almost no calories and a lot of nutrition. Again, a fine premise but it makes foods like nuts and olive oil bad guys and touts kale as the best thing going. But I feel that the calorie/micronutrient ratio is just one part of the picture.

I had some issues with the audio version as well. First of all, numerous charts are referenced, which listeners cannot see. Second, the author read the book himself. I would usually applaud this and I understand that reading books is not an easy task. It is usually done by trained actors, who have no accents. The author's New England accent really got on my nerves after a while as did his tone in some instances: "Well, that's false!". Paying an actor to do the job would have been wiser.

There are better books out there. For simple motivation on setting nutrition and fitness goals and losing weight, I recommend Chris Downie's "The Spark". For really interesting information on highly nutritious foods, try Dr. Pratt's "Superfoods" series.
