It's complicated

In terms of content, these lessons are usually impressively instructive, excellently structured and very comprehensible.
A disadvantage for an audience outside the United States, however, is that the focus of the analysis is - explicitly - the U.S. perspective. This is sometimes interesting, sometimes amusing, and sometimes simply annoying, especially when established controversies - for example, about the motivations that led to the second Iraq war - are simply left out. Obviously, no one ever claimed that Iraq had hidden weapons of mass destruction, and this was not one of the main arguments used to try to convince the world community that the war was "just."
Regarding the considerations about terrorism, the lesson is on a state of affairs "during al-Qaeda, but before ISIS," which, of course, cannot be blamed on the course. On the contrary, it is interesting how a lecturer analyzes the lessons that had been learned up to that point, and the recipient knows all that is to come ...

Regarding the lecturer, it should be said that for a listener who is not a native speaker of English, Professor Wilson has cultivated a number of unpleasant habits that unnecessarily complicate listening comprehension or are at least irritating, for example, when he delivers sentences over long periods with a speech melody that always sounds the same and affected, slips into an erratic and washed-out pronunciation, or - frequently - simply swallows the last syllables of a word at the end of a sentence. Sometimes, therefore, one has to repeat sentences or sections, which at some point makes the listener impatient and strained.

I learned a lot with this course, but I was glad when it was over.
