Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of Inkheart, the book whose characters came to life and changed her life forever. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater brought into being from words, the need to return to the tale has become desperate. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the ability to read him back, Dustfinger leaves behind his young apprentice Farid and plunges into the medieval inkscape once more. Distraught, Farid goes in search of Meggie, and before long, both are caught inside the book, too. There they meet Inkheart's author, Fenoglio, now living within his own story. But the tale is much changed, and threatening to evolve in ways none of them would ever have imagined. Will Meggie, Farid, and Fenoglio manage to write the wrongs of a charmed world? Or is their story on the brink of a very bad ending?

"Readers who enjoyed Funke's Inkheart are in for a treat with this sequel." (Booklist)

Better than Inkheart!

Before you enter into the confusing world of Inkspell, listen to the first book, Inkheart. Then take a break! Inkheart is read by Lynn Redgrave and Inkspell by Brandon Fraser hence it's to confusing to listen to them one after another.

I liked Lynn Redgrave but I have been absolutely fascinated by the reading that Brendan Fraser gives to this audiobook! Each character has a different voice, laughter, accent, inflection and they are delightful to hear. While listening to Inkspell, I truly find myself lost in that world. Cornelia Funke has infused this book with very descriptive details and listening to the audiobook once won't be enough to capture all of the scenery, dialogue and intrigue between all of the characters.

Inkspell begins a year after Inkheart ends. Familiar characters such as Meggie, Dustfinger, Mo, and Farid return for another adventure ... this time in the Inkworld. The mood is darker, and the plot and subplots are more complex.

I definitely recommend this to everyone who likes to get lost in a fantastic story!
