It's a tough time to be a woman on the internet. Over the past two generations, the political map of human relations has been redrawn by feminism and by changes in technology. In Cybersexism, Laurie Penny goes to the dark heart of the matter and asks why threats of violence are being used to try to silence female voices, analyses the structure of online misogyny, and makes a case for real freedom of speech - for everyone.

Another perspective worth listening to

This book really helped me understand better what it means to be feminine online, and how the internet changed what it means to be feminine in general.

I couldn't connect to everything Penny wrote, but that's simply because I have never been a blogger or a journalist. But some of her observations definitely helped me put my own experiences into context. Realizing that I wasn't insulted because of my personality, but because my personality is in a female body and it doesn't fit the social expectations people have for a woman.

Definitely recommend listening to this!
