The war between the People’s Republic of Haven and the Star Kingdom is finally won and peace established, but grave danger looms - for there is a plan well on its way to completion designed to enslave the entire human species. Behind that plan lies the shadowy organization known as the Mesan Alignment.
Task number one for Honor is to defend against another devastating Mesan strike - a strike that may well spell the doom of the Star Kingdom in one fell blow. It is time to shut down and secure the wormhole network that is the source of the Star Kingdom’s wealth and power - but also its greatest vulnerability. Yet this is an act that the Earth-based Solarian League inevitably will take as a declaration of war.
The thunder of battle rolls as the Solarian League directs its massive power against the Star Kingdom. And once again, Honor Harrington is thrust into a desperate battle that she must win if she is to survive to take the fight to the real enemy of galactic freedom: the insidious puppetmasters of war who lurk behind the Mesan Alignment!

David Weber needs to be read
I never thought, I'd say this, but since trying Honor Harrington as audio books, I think there are books, that are simply ment to be read.
I love audio books and I love the Honorverse in all it's variety. I read the first 12 books, listend to them afterwards and loved them again.
But when I tried "listing first", it just wouldn't work for me.
Maybe that is just me. Because the narrator is very good and i liked the story too. Maybe you are not supposed to do anything besides listening, not even driving. Maybe it is something else, unique to my way of listening to audio books.
This makes three stars for the overall experience but since the narrator and the story are very good, they deserve the five stars.

rewind time & sudden ending
as always ist was a joy to listen to.
two things for listeners to know is that
1. this book starts wast before the last book ended and going deeper into how silwicky & Co are heading home and the effect of manticor closing down all wormhole junctions around.
2. the book is suddenly ending with no real ending at all. there is no real end of the thread of the book. it stays with a kind of cliffhanger that would lead to the next book.
to 1. I would say that instead of advancing the last book so far into the story Weber should have kept to the time line and divided the last two books accordingly. it seems a little that these two books were more written like the books of the side stories to the Harrington series. don't get me wrong. this is not really a negative point it is just evident. probably because of the long time span between them and the ones before.
to 2. this is only really sad because there are no more books in this series until now 2017 and hence we are stuck.
sure I will now immediately continue with the books from the side story and hope that they will continue the story of at least give me joy with more time in manticor and around.
