This gripping tale of the future anticipates Ayn Rand's later masterpieces, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. In the dark ages of the future, individuals have no name, no independence, and no values. In this faceless world, one man dares to love the woman of his choice and to seek and find knowledge.weiterlesen
Anthem was my introduction to Ayn Rand, and I like what I hear. She depicts a futuristic world that, frighteningly, does not seem so far off. A world in which personal freedom and individuality have been abolished, in fact outlawed, and the protagonist refers to himself as "we" because there is no "I." He struggles within the confines of an ordered world he just cannot come to terms with, and "we" agree...we could not live there either. (Kirsten, Editor)
