Beschreibung

Five days after Owen Zastava Pitt pushed his insufferable boss out of a 14th story window, he woke up in the hospital with a scarred face, an unbelievable memory, and a job offer.
It turns out that monsters are real. All the things from myth, legend, and B-movies are out there, waiting in the shadows. Officially secret, some of them are evil, and some are just hungry. On the other side are the people who kill monsters for a living. Monster Hunter International is the premier eradication company in the business. And now Owen is their newest recruit.
It's actually a pretty sweet gig, except for one little problem. An ancient entity known as the Cursed One has returned to settle a centuries-old vendetta. Should the Cursed One succeed, it means the end of the world, and MHI is the only thing standing in his way.
With the clock ticking towards Armageddon, Owen finds himself trapped between legions of undead minions, belligerent federal agents, a cryptic ghost who has taken up residence inside his head, and the cursed family of the woman he loves. Business is good.... Welcome to Monster Hunter International.

Utterly stupid crap

I have to say I knew what I got myself into. A cheesy plot written by a right-wing gun-nut. I thougth "Cool. This could be fun!" I grossly underestimated my ability to turn off my brain and just listen to it. I quite liked "The Dresden Files" and other urban fantasy. I enjoy not-so-serious action-filled plots with the cool guy in the middle. I even like some David Weber Honorverse stuff so I thought I might be prepared! But not for this. Usually I go through with stuff I paid money for. But this one made me feel sick. This book is just full of the right-to-carry-guns nonsense to the limit. All federal government agents are incompetent, corrupt, waste money, get in the way of the "good guys from the private sector". A quite dislikeble and unbelievable dumb main character rounds the whole misery up. After the 20th time Correia describes how bad the government acts and openly endorses fiscal fraud I simply gave up. This is a book for the illiterate hillbilly who has an assault rifle under his pillow.

Now if you are still interested, go on and listen to it. But you cannot say, that you haven't been warned.
