A Mind-candy Quest

A mystery getting stranger and stranger, a journey through space and time and gripping from the beginning till the end: must be a novel by Jack McDevitt. In his typical way his heros have to pursue lots of hints and red herrings. This quest up a lot of questions about life and death, but neither the author nor his protagonists force an answer down your throat.

Told from the perspective of his assistant Chase – and the audiobook-performance by Jennifer van Dyck is very credible and a pure delight – the hero Alex Benedict comes across first as a later-day/future Nero Wolfe who is confronted by a mystery within a riddle while searching for clues. At the end he invites the opposition for a chat at his office and at the very end he just laughs …

An exciting tale. And even better: the series continues…
