dissapointing religious twist

When I started the series, I found it rather entertaining, as I do love fantasy and I liked the easily written story, the rather naïve construction of the Muirwood universe and the direction the main character;s development went. it is rather an easy read. The story of first two books takes you by the hand and leads trough simple, but well balance narrative. I like the narrator, too.
The third book was rather a disappointment and brought an unpleasant shadow over the sere. It is suddenly not about a strong character taking part in forming events of the land, not anymore a character with her own will being occasionally nudged by the Medium in a certain direction. Suddenly, the Medium changes into demanding capricious demiurge ( in my point of view, the author obviously found it cool and deeply spiritual and right, that people should happily die and suffer only because their believe tells them so). It is all about blindly obeying the will of medium, that just demand sacrifice and suffering. After second half of the book, one is not really sure, if the author went trough some religious fundamentalist brainwashing, or just simply decided to set everything he created before on fire and then ponder the pleasure of suffering while bathing himself in the warmth of flames licking his toes. I did not enjoy his change of heart.
We were also informed, that too low neckline and kiss on the cheek is a work of evil and one has to let the loved ones die, even when he has the will to heal them. ......quite a contrast to a rather generously given resurrections in the earlier part of the story, considering that most of fantasy universes consider necromancy to be quite and abuse of the nature, but I pass this one as a mere poetic license

conclusion....in the first books I found the story a nice one for school girls who like to read fantasy and like to see a girl hero. I even considered the series as a present for one. Half trough the book 3 I was really happy I did not use it as a present, as it promotes rather unhealthy way of thinking. it is a pity that this spoiled the mood of the whole series.
