Inhaltsangabe

Geralt is a witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.
He roams the country seeking assignments, but gradually comes to realise that while some of his quarry are unremittingly vile, vicious grotesques, others are the victims of sin, evil or simple naivety.

Liked the story

But the narrator gets many pronunciations wrong, it's really confusing. For example Dandelion... I even checked the pronunciation in a dictionary and he is either using some dialect or pronounces it wrong.

Great stories - horrible narrator

The short stories are well constructed and rich in detail - also, the translation to English seems excellent.
However, the narrator P. Kenny comes close to completely ruining this.
It's my mistake that I didn't recognize him before buying the audio-book - I encountered his horrible narration in another audio-book several years ago and had since forgotten is name.

- staccato-style narration of sentences with (long) pauses in-between.
-> Kenny seems to always pause to read ahead and then PRESSES OUT partial or whole sentences in an incredibly fast staccato style.
-> This staccato style also seems the only explanation to me how he can so completely mispronounce the name Dandelion - his speaks it as "dan-dilllion" which allows him to speak it very fast ("dillion" spoken twice as fast as "dan") - while the correct "dan-de-li-on" would have to be spoken much slower,

- major variations in volume.
-> Kenny speaks some parts very softly while other parts are pronounced very strongly and loudly.
-> This makes for hard to understand listening any any but the most quiet environments - listening while traveling (car, train, etc.) is close to impossible.

It has to be said that Kenny is a skilled narrator - there are no mistakes and he is quite skilled in imitating different persons
-> But this can be said about most narrators of professionally recorded audio-books - his general skills of narration DO NOT negate the above deficits!

I'm actively noting down Peter Kenny as narrator to avoid!
