Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) was an English philosopher, logician, mathematician, social critic, and historian. He is remembered as being a leader in the British revolt against idealism, as well as a founding father of the field of analytic philosophy. He was also well known for his very public anti-war and anti-imperialist stances.

Mind, Matter and Reality
As an average person with only vague notions of philosophy, I shall not pretend to have understood all the details at the first hearing, although I have read the book long ago. Philosophical notions cannot be had in tiny bits, they tend to be tied up in a whole net of other notions. But you have to start somewhere, and this famous little book deals with the fundamental questions in a simple, unpretentious manner.
James Langton`s polite, friendly, relaxed manner and his perfect elocution will encourage listeners to come back again and again. For these questions remain at the core of human existence.
